I bet you have never been there and you have just read some spiel about oman on your governments travel section, you presumed without knowing as if you know it all, I think you'll find aboriginees in australia believe their soul, or part of it is taken when photographed, not people from fking oman you dumb presumptious idiot, go home and, read/study your fking asshole, and then you'll understand peoples perspective of you. bye now!

All that makes sense, ryan. It's just the assumption that he _didn't_ ask permission, without first asking him, that's odd to me.

and for one, i've been to that country, and yes they do care if you are taking photos of them. they care quite a bit actually. i'm not reminding him because i am concerned personally, i'm reminding him because those people have a culture where they believe that photos of them belong to them alone, and you are taking something from them by capturing an image. i don't even need to get into thee customs about their sensitivity towards their women

1) How do you know he didn't get permission first for these pics?2) Do you look at every photojournalist's work and, instead of being moved by the subject matter and thinking about cultural similarities and differences, fret about whether permission was asked of each and every person they snapped a picture of (many of whom are probably more pragmatic and concerned with things like feeding themselves than rather some westerners see them)? If so, you're really missing the forest for the trees. |
