This performance by Patti was nominated For an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program in 1985. At the time, her performance here was suppose to do the for her career what appearing on Motown 25th anniversary did for Micheal Jackson perfoming Billie Jean in 2003 Well Patti did achieve her first number one album, "Winner in You," and her first number one single under Patti Labelle, with "On My Own." So the performance did make a difference.

Is it just me or is there some serious upstaging going on here? I mean, impressive that she can sing that much but does it really make any sense?

Every duet she's ever done has been off the damn chain. There's one with Michael Bolton on a Motown special that was better than any of the Motown acts. And her performances with Luther and Gerald were priceless. |
