Yea, value wise I think the Corolla is probably better. But ABS and cruise are also standard on the entry level Rabbit. So are power windows and locks, as well as a 10-speaker sound system with CD. And more HP. The Base Corolla starts at $15,350; the Base Rabbit starts at $15,600, although that's only a 2 door. The price goes up 2grand for the 4door, so I see where you're coming from.

The rabbit costs as much as a XRS model. the XRS model is slightly faster, and the rabbit is so bare bones at that price. I understand why some make the trade off. I'd rather take the GTI, would never buy a Rabbit, but to penny pinchers the XRS does have a more wealthy list of options for less money. The corolla comes with ABS, six airbags standard, cruise control, etc. most of which you have to pay for on their pricier German counterpart. For those who care about value the Corolla is better. |
