Now i'm 54 years old and remembering things with this song. Lots of experiences in life, kids & grandkids and living far from where I came from. You can't go back, but you can remember. Thanks Louie, Martin, Kevin, Ron, Lionel, & Ted(RIP) for being friends then & now. It means even more as you get older.

desert moon is a camp site (you should see it at the end of the music video) the song is primarily about a girl and him that have intercourse that's why he says (we left our innocence in desert moon)in the song.

If I could make a guess (AND it MIGHT be wrong!) The song's about a small town guy who either made it big or who tried to & kind of fell short of his big dream; he returns home to see his buddies in his home town & kind of talk about 'old times'; I guess the 'Desert Moon' was the old hang out--now gone.
