Yeah, for some reason it's all entirely in English. I suggest you try the NES version of Gryzor, it's basically the same as regular NES Contra but with added cutscenes (once again in English), a stage map and background animation, which means trees move on the wind in the Jungle stage and the Alien Lair is actually alive! It's quite awesome. Not to mention, the Earth doesn't explode. ;)
