I also prefer his live work over his studio stuff. Stevie was always better live.I too own the El Mocambo DVD as the Austin Texas DVD and The Montreux DVD's, and some CD's of him. The Sydney 1984 show I've been talking is simply magnificent and unbeliveable. I think that there exists at least half of the show here at Youtube.I simply love that show. Some of the best playing that I ever heard from him.

I used to have a Les Paul, but it totally wasn't my taste and after a while, I sold it to my buddy who is more into Les Pauls.I am a straight Fender guy, and Fender is my choice of game. I prefer 12's and sometimes 13's on my Strat, and it certainly ain't that easy at all, but I am trying. I trully love that fat and tasty tone that SRV would get, and generally the harmonics are better and the tone is better and thicker strings.

Ah yeah, I got that El Mocambo gig on DVD. Also got the Montreux appearances on the double CD. I must say I prefer his live work over his studio-jobs. I'll check that Sydney stuff too, haven't heard that yet. Thanks for the tip!

I used to own some selfbuild Les Paul kinda board. It had some custom (also selfmade??? dunno) picks and I strung some fat flatwounds on it. My band wasn't willing to tune down a step, within a year the neck broke! Guess it wasn't build for that kinda stringtension, hehe. Nowadays, for blues, I prefer 13" on my Godin SD (which sounds real nice for it's price) pumped from just the neck-pick into my Mesa 50cal. Sounds like a bell too ;).

No problem at all. No hard feelings at all. I've been fan of SRV for almost 3 years and I play guitar too. He is my #1 favorite and my guitar idol! And about Lenny, that is by far my favorite instrumental from SRV. I learned it a long time ago, and by far my favorite version is from El Mocambo. Check out even Lenny from Sydney Opera House (if you haven't already). It's here on Youtube as well. Both version rock!Peace!

:) I like your dedication, cheers man. I never denied your statement...and blah blah hahaha....bottomline, we all still enjoy the mans music. I'm studying on 'Lenny' by the way....on 'normal' gauche strings...I ain't SRV ya know, hehehe.
