Yes, but thankfully they returned to their prog roots with albums like Keystudio, The Ladder, and Magnification.

I agree. A lot of bands from the 70s went to synth 80s pop, but Yes was went from way progressive to way pop 80s. 1970s were way better.

"Drama" is a great album though... 1980.

Love their 70's material, but I can't just stand the Yes' 80's era

You won't find comments like this under the videos of other bands. :)

Geeks corner: I've never seen Chris Squire play anything but a Ricky before, but that's definitely a Jazz bass he's got round his neck. Great to see this video; always loved this song, especially that wee descending bass figure Chris plays in the second verse. Very cool.

Haha interesting hearing you say that. I am a fan of the Cookie Monster grr bear voice, but Yes holds a very dear place in my heart. They're just incredible. No other way to put it. Totally out of this world. Apparently 3 years ago they did a warm up gig at the theater where I work now here in Washington state. I lived in Germany at the time, but my boss got to meet them. He asked them about how they came up with some of their wonkier ideas. The response was unanimously "Lots of drugs, man" :D

I grew up listening to my brother's YES 8-tracks. This will always be one of my most favorite albums. Such a musical masterpiece. Bands these days, especially the Cookie-Monster metal types prevalent these days, wish they could write something like this. Oh, and yes, North drums did suck sound-wise, but at the time they looked cool. Everyone in YES's musicianship around this time is nothing short of amazing. |
