one thing that will ALWAYS unite the brits and the germans is our mutual hate for the FRENCH. without you buggers, we'd never beat Napoleon. (and no, i aint got no beef with the French. what to do, its in every brits' gene to loathe the french. :)

Now they are our ally in EU and NATO.You can see German Leopard 2A4 tanks also in Polish Army.

oops i already pressed "Post Comment" .."Ich gelobe, der Bundesrepublik Deutschland treu zu dienen und das Recht und die Freiheit des deutschen Volkes tapfer zu verteidigen"It means that the soldier defends the state, the law and freedom of all german people.the pronounciation is on DEFEND... and if germany would attack other countrys... this pledge would be broken... and is against the law. So most politicians discuss hard about beeing part of Enduring freedom... dunno why...

I'm a german Soldier... and i partly agree with raffles78... German Soldiers (like most every soldier) have to pledge to defend the Basic Constitutional Law .
