Agreed, although, I didn't mean production v10 or v12, I just meant what if NHRA or NASCAR tried more than 8 cylinders. I don't know if they have, but it's interesting. Chances are, it won't work out like you said.

cont...then a Camaro, so I think 4mpg is worth the extra 100-150hp or so. [98+ dyno around 300ish to the wheels]And I used the Evo/STI as a comparison because there the only stock 4cyl I can think of that makes similar power to a V8, and of course the gas mileage matches the performance.

V10 or V12 could do just as good, but there is no engine that would be good for NASCAR or NHRA. I doubt they would be able to do better, the engine would just get longer, heavier, bigger, all the V10s and V12s in production cars would be terrible at drag and NASCAR, far to small combustion chamber and no parts or aftermarket for them, I bet the fastest 4cyl in the world [6.8 in the 1/4 i think] is faster then the fastest V10 or V12. There too expensive/hard to make fast.A civic has way less hp |
