All i can say there was a few decent conversions of OUTRUN, and the fact you mentioned the AMSTRAD CPC version youve answered your own argument, the CPC version is rubbish probably the worst OUTRUN conversion ever made (even worse than the commodore 64).The Spectrum 128k and the PC ENGINE version of outrun was arguely the best, the amiga and atari st versions were pretty poor, as was the c64.

I think Out Run was one of the best conversions I played back then on the C64 :)Sure no where near the Original, but good on it's on ! Same to Space Harrier ! And the Music was just great on the C64 ~

your basically saying that computers should not have got licences to replicate coin-op games. If an 8 bit game is inferior to a 16 bit game then there is no point commenting about it not being as good because it is to be expected, if an 8 bit game is better than a 16 bit + game then yes there is a point to comment about the 8 bit conversion being better.

Unless it was an 8 bit computer based coin-op...
rainxxxx (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
none of the coin op conversions had true elements when programmed for home computers, and isn't it obvious why? comparing 8 bit to 8 bit is one thing, comparing them to higher technology is just silly. And when did i fail to see that many 8 bit games were actually good?
masterofoutrun (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
No, you fail to see that, many 8-bit games were actually good.8-bit outrun, was not.It had none of the elements that made OutRun, OutRun.If a game claims to be OutRun, surley it should be able to be compared to other versions of the game of which it claims to be?Also, cocks.

First of all how old are you? if you weren't a part of the old computer gaming generation then don't comment. If you don't see the point then you are just ignorant. Should they of just not made any games for home computers? Comparing a saturn version to an 8 bit is just retardish, its like comparing a bicycle to a car.
masterofoutrun (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Your point being? If I was SEGA, I wouldn't have wanted a brand being tarnished by such crappy conversions.Look at CPC, etc.All shit, even if it was because of technological limitations it is no excuse. If you can't do it sucesfully. Don't do it.
