This is on a 2 disc set that is a tribute to all of Lyle's favorite songwriters. I believe it is called "Step Inside This House", named for a Guy Clark song covered on there. Lovett's voice really is so sweet singing this song, it's my favorite Townes song.

Townes was the greatest songwriter of his generation. The best way to honor him is to keep singing and playing his songs. I first saw him at the Saxon Pub on 38th and IH35 in about 1966.He sang Mr. Gold and Mr. Mud,one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard, before or since. He hated to see me show up, because I always wrote that on a napkin as a request, and he hated to have to try to remember it all. But he always did, and always perfectly, no matter how wasted he was. I miss him.CKO

Lyle sang this a Townes' funeral. He kept looking away. Guy came on to sing and naturally made a joke. He made folks laugh so as to try and draw attention away from the fact that he turned his back and cried. Katie belle walked from person to person handing out flowers. |
