The S.O.S. Band was the hottest R&B band on Atlanta's club scene.After listening to their demo and being impressed with the bands funky sound, Tabu Records signed them to their first recording contract which led them to explode on the music scene with their first hit single,"Take Your Time (Do it Right)",going platinum selling over 2 million copies.They later joined forces with production team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who went on to craft a string of R&B hits for the group, including "Just Be Good to Me," "Tell Me If You Still Care," "Borrowed Love," "No One's Gonna Love You," "Just the Way You Like It," and "The Finest".

SOS Band and the TR808 drum machine literally killed the 70s and Disco in the black community. It was the SOS Band that made me know something drastic and game changing had happened to black urban music in late 1980 and I was oh so happy to see the death of stale 70s disco.SOS Band and the new tech elevated RnB to another dimension and made a young teen like myself take notice that there was music being made for people like me.
