Korean people do not think '恨' = hate.It is little complex to explain, but most similar expression is maybe 'sadness' and 'enduring'. ( I think).

yeah but since it was never for north koreans, it would not be right to make it the national anthem upon reuinification unless south korea pwns them.

Every Korean Knows Arirang whose Nationality doesn't matter. South Korean, North Korean, Korean Japanese, Korean Chinese, Korean American. Every Korean knows this song.. But Nobody knows what exactly 'Arirang' mean is. Just we can guess that it means 'love', or 'sadness' as a word of accient Korean. This song must be choosen as Korean national anthem after two Korea's unificaion.

Hate? no~Koreans tipical emotion [恨] is include (sorrow, pain, resistance, yearning).During its 10,000-year history, Korea has been invaded over 900 times.(It's copy ^^)For this reason we have peculiar emotion..In fact, we don't know this emotion..because we don't experience our generation.I don't use english well..;Understand me^^;

What's the typical emotion translated into English? Because the same word translated from Chinese [恨] means "hate", so I'm a little confused? o.oCare to set me straight? :) |
