If people are going to pay to go see a G3 concert they aren't paying to go watch 3 of the best guitarists on the planet play straight up covers of great hits. You can get that out of any halfway decent cover band. These guys are out there to improvise and have fun, showcasing their talents and wow'ing the crowd which is what they didThis version was great for what it is, which was quite simply an play on the original song with a lot of tricks thrown in. Don't read anymore into it than that.

Vai uses the whammy for phrasing techniques and making unique vibratos, Satriani uses the whammy to scream loudly and Petrucci doesnt really do much with the whammy lol. I love Petrucci's performance though. Especially in the first solo where he shreds it up

I couldn't agree more with TPol810. I like these 3 guys, but not for this one. They farking kill the song 'La Grange'. This song is supposed to be a blues rock, but I don't feel it in their playing.

People don't come to see constant shredding, why do you think no one likes Yngwie? People come to hear great guitarist tastefully improvise good music, and they killed this song.

This what people come to see; their guitar gods paying homage to great songs and then going crazy. It's like a modern version. Be cool and enjoy it.

The first couple minutes are great, then they turn it in to a shredfest killin the bluesiness. We all know they can play fast. |
